Adam Shamash is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer whose work is centred on themes of peacemaking, cultural diversity and spiritual traditions in the contemporary context. Currently he is working on several projects, including: ‘Abraham’s Children,’ a point-of-view documentary following his own journey through the Middle East along the legendary 4,000-year-old footsteps of Abraham; ‘The Dervish of Parc-Ex,’ a short documentary about a Moroccan-Canadian immigrant’s personal struggle for transcendence over poverty, drug abuse, and physical and mental disability; and a humorous, unconventional travel-food show, about mystical cuisine along the Silk Road. Adam’s short doc La Khaima: the Tent of Mile-End was recently awarded Best Film and Best Director at Air Canada’s enRoute Film Festival for emerging filmmakers; in 2007 his doc ‘Abdallah of Mile-End’ garnered the Audience Award at the CBC / Radio Canada’s national “Migrations” film contest. Currently residing between Montreal, Canada and Amman, Jordan, Adam looks forward to traveling the world far and wide in pursuit of great stories.
